Résumé
Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L,) is a species widely cultivated throughout the world. Drought is an important factor in low chickpea productivity. The value of losses caused by this scourge is estimated at $1.2 billion worldwide. Increasing yields would necessarily involve the use of varieties tolerant to water stress. The objective of this work is to study some morpho-physiological as well as biochemical responses to the climatic conditions of the western region of Algeria (Ain Temouchent). 12 genotypes were initially evaluated, except that the prevailing rainy conditions (lack of rainfall) only allowed 5 genotypes to be evaluated. The 5 genotypes showed differences in their responses to climatic conditions. Genotypes Gab5 and Flip90-13c displayed the best values for morph physiological parameters and total protein content.
